I had no idea what I was getting into when I brought home a cuddly black brown German Shepherd puppy. It wasn't long before I knew I needed help with my little (soon to be huge) rascal. Rick absolutely saved me! I dropped my pup off and when I came back a few weeks later I found my goofy, difficult, troublemaker behaving like a refined, obedient companion. Rick truly speaks the same language as these magnificent canines. He sees their potential and is able to bring it out of them in a disciplined yet nurturing way. Rick is not only patient with your dog but with you! He takes all the time needed to go over everything he taught your dog so you can continue the training. He makes sure you feel comfortable with being the leader of your dog with the tools he has given you. I owe Rick everything for my majestic, well-behaved, attentive and protective German Shepherd!

Our family’s desire was to have an obedient family dog that could be a part of our everyday lives.  We wanted to take her with us everywhere and have her be our friend, companion, and protector.  We decided on a working German shepherd from quality bloodlines.  What we got was a spunky puppy that had potential to be a fabulous dog or a terrible terror.  We decided quickly that we needed help in training our dog and we needed training, too!  All roads led to Richard, and he has taken our “hot tamale” and groomed her to be the dog that we have dreamed.  Our Layla has made a 180-degree turn around.  She is obedient, attentive, alert, and protective of what she deems as hers.  Richard has worked tirelessly, been very honest, patient, and completely trustworthy of Layla.  Dog training is a skillful art.  Richard has risen to every task that was necessary to train Layla.  We will have a long relationship with Richard.  In the future, we plan to send Layla to Richard for refinements and kenneling.  We can’t forget Liz.  She has loved Layla, too.  Thank you Richard and Liz

Rick was a pleasure to work with. He was patient and calm, which is exactly the personality that my dog needed to work with for optimal results. He provided some great suggestions and listened to the my needs. I loved that he taylored training around my needs with Blitz, not simply providing the same training for everyone.

We are Terry and Linda Stairs from Wingo, KY.  We met Richard Kline (Rick) when we got our dog, Alvin.  He was the person who had worked every day with Alvin.  He took him out of the kennel, to the river, to the park, and worked with Alvin on his basic obedience and security dog training.  Alvin is a living testament to the work and love shown him by Rick.  He (Alvin) is a living example of what a good (superior) dog should be and IS.

One example of how dedicated Rick is; he traveled from his home in central Kentucky to far western Kentucky to our home.  He came to our house with Alvin and his wife, (who also has worked with Alvin) Liz.  While here, Rick worked with us regarding Alvin's recent training.  We were so excited with what Alvin had learned.  Alvin had advanced so much, while he still retained his knowledge of the training he had received before we sent him back for more extensive training.

Richard has an amazing knowledge of dogs and their behaviors.  We have never seen such patience shown, as well as control of an animal.  He shows firmness and control and care with dogs.  We couldn't believe how much Alvin still knew what he learned earlier in his training and with what Rick had taught him.

In the future, we will call Rick, as he has told us, when we need him or want more training or refreshers with Alvin.  We only know how well Alvin adapted with the change in being in a kennel, our home, and then back to the kennel and then back to us.  We have been so happy and ecstastic with Alvin and his first friend, Richard.

He is a christian man with good morals and a personal touch with animals, that we knew immediatly when we met Rick we knew we wanted to deal with him.  Wherever Rick goes, he will be fine.  He is the best man to work with anyones dogs or any other animal.

Sincerely

I was very timid bringing in my new puppy for evaluation. I wanted a personal protection dog, but didn't know what sort of training and if training what sort of characteristics to look for. I had called before picking my pup from the litter and was pleased to find she had all the basic requirements. But the true test was when she met Rick. He was very open and saying that with the bloodlines that I had e-mailed it was a coin toss to see if she would pass the tests needed to start training. I nodded looking hopeful at my little black ball of fluff. He got right down on the floor and greeted her warmly, and she took to him instantly. I know it seams silly to say, but I feel dogs are good judge of character, and the fact she ran right up to him, showering him with affection told me much about him.

He started Luna and I off with the basic food drives and keep her focused on our hands. It was fun learning about the different methods of training and how he planned on implementing his plan with each phase of her development. He was very professional and patient whenever he would use a method that I didn't understand. Giving me several different examples of what he was talking about.

With my work schedule it was hard for me to go to classes during the week. I was so thankful for the flexibility he provided in meeting me on Saturdays. When most people wanted to kick back. With each passing week I could tell Luna needed more one on one time with Rick, and even more when I convinced myself that I could take on another puppy.

It wasn't until I stared down at the two pups and saw the destruction that was my house that I needed to think of other options. I called Rick on his personal cellphone that he gave to me to call during moments of uncertainty with the training or if I had a simple question. He suggested that I bring the two to him to have for one moth to ingrain the training that I'd been sadly trying to give. I agreed and after an observation of where I'd be brining them, which was Ricks house with his family and pets. I decided it was a good choice. So the following week I brought my two rambunctious pups to Rick to train. He told me upon leaving them that I could come anytime to see how their training was going, and to just see the pups. He was very honest and forward about the month, and the expectations that he had for them.

The following month was such a relief knowing that the two pups were in safe hands getting the training that was obviously going to help them become good k-9 citizens and basic obedience. I checked on the two weekly to two week intervals. I would drive out to the house and see them and saw how speedily training was going. It also helped if I couldn't see them on a day we had talked about, he was quick to offer another date, or when I suggested a time he was always willing to comply.

I can happily say that I brought Rick two mischievous out of sorts puppies and came back with two very obedient dogs. Both of my dogs have particular areas that they excel on but both know how to heel, and lay down when asked. Stay on the bed or designated area, and do not tug or jerk on a leash.

I took them to a dog park and was so proud to see them come when called and to instantly go from happy excited pups, to mannered citizens with just a command to heel and walk out of the park as if they were completely different dogs.

Thank you Rick for all you have done in Luna and Heliou's life. I couldn't thank you enough for setting the ground work for two amazing dogs who will be a part of my family for a long time. And I'm even more excited to bring Luna back for Phase two of protection work.

Just a note of thanks for your great care and training of our doberman Simon. Simon is our 9 month old male doberman. Before we found Epic K-9, life with Simon was a challange. He is a wonderful dog, but like all dobermans, is full of energy. We had no idea what to do or how to train him. All that energy went into chewing everything from shoes to couch cushions! When he went outside, he would come back when he wanted to and not necessarily when we called him. I read eveything I could find about training, but nothing worked. Then we called Richard at Epic K-9.   In a few short weeks, Simon is a very well-mannered doberman. No more chewing. No more running over everyone. No jumping up on family or visitors. He walks like a gentleman. Knows commands. No more coming back when he decides to, but with "Simon come" he will walk back and sit down directly in front of us. When instructed, he will lay on his bed until allowed to leave it. The change is 100% amazing. Richard explained every aspect of the training process. Everything is done with compassion. No harsh training here!   I highly recommend Epic K-9 for any dog and for any type of training. Richard and Liz love and care for each dog as they do their own. It is evident in the way Simon acts when they visit. We are grateful to them for giving us back the joy of dog ownership. God Bless! ”
